Understanding Periodontal Gum Disease: Causes and Symptoms

As the owner of Comprehensive Dental Care, I understand the importance of educating our patients about periodontal gum disease. Periodontal gum disease, also known as periodontitis, is a serious oral health condition that affects the gums and supporting structures of the teeth. It is caused by the buildup of plaque and bacteria along the gumline, leading to inflammation and infection.

One of the main causes of periodontal gum disease is poor oral hygiene. When we neglect to brush and floss regularly, plaque accumulates on the teeth, providing a breeding ground for harmful bacteria. Other factors that can contribute to the development of gum disease include smoking, hormonal changes, certain medications, and a weakened immune system.

Recognizing the symptoms of periodontal gum disease is crucial for early detection and treatment. Common signs include red, swollen, and tender gums, persistent bad breath, receding gums, loose or shifting teeth, and the formation of deep pockets between the teeth and gums. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important to seek professional dental care as soon as possible.

At Comprehensive Dental Care, Dr. Mariya Bodnar and our experienced team are dedicated to providing exceptional periodontal care. We offer comprehensive examinations to assess the health of your gums, along with personalized treatment plans tailored to your specific needs. By addressing the underlying causes and implementing effective treatments, we can help you regain a healthy smile and prevent further damage to your gums and teeth.

Don’t let periodontal gum disease compromise your oral health. Contact Comprehensive Dental Care today to schedule an appointment with Dr. Mariya Bodnar and take the first step towards achieving optimal gum health.

The Role of Regular Dental Check-ups in Preventing Gum Disease

As the owner of Comprehensive Dental Care, I understand the importance of regular dental check-ups in preventing gum disease. Our dedicated team, led by Dr. Mariya Bodnar, believes that early detection and intervention are key to maintaining optimal oral health. Periodontal gum disease is a common condition that affects the gums and the surrounding tissues. Without proper treatment, it can lead to tooth loss and other serious oral health issues.

Dr. Mariya Bodnar and our skilled dental hygienists are trained to identify the early signs of gum disease during routine check-ups. By conducting a thorough examination of the gums, they can detect any inflammation, bleeding, or pockets between the teeth and gums. These are indicators of gum disease and require immediate attention. Through regular check-ups, our team can provide professional cleanings and personalized treatment plans to prevent the progression of gum disease and restore oral health.

At Comprehensive Dental Care, we prioritize patient education and emphasize the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene practices at home. Our team will provide guidance on proper brushing and flossing techniques, as well as recommend suitable oral care products. By partnering with our patients and providing comprehensive dental check-ups, we strive to prevent gum disease and promote overall oral health for a lifetime.

The Impact of Periodontal Gum Disease on Overall Health

Periodontal gum disease is not just a condition that affects your oral health; it can also have a significant impact on your overall well-being. As the owner of Comprehensive Dental Care, I want to emphasize the importance of understanding the connection between periodontal gum disease and your overall health.

Research has shown that there is a strong link between periodontal gum disease and various systemic health conditions. When left untreated, gum disease can contribute to the development or worsening of conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, respiratory infections, and even certain types of cancer. This is because the bacteria present in gum disease can enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body, triggering inflammation and compromising your immune system.

At Comprehensive Dental Care, we prioritize the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal gum disease. Our highly skilled and experienced dentist, Dr. Mariya Bodnar, utilizes advanced techniques and state-of-the-art technology to provide effective periodontal care. By addressing gum disease promptly, we aim to not only improve your oral health but also reduce the risk of developing or exacerbating other health conditions.

I was referred here and from day one, i had a great experience. The front desk ladies were very kind and caring. only issue i had was there lack of not returning calls. i had left several messages and no returns but yet they did answer my call once i was able to talk with someone. The lady who answered was kind and apologized to me.Dr. Colson did my extractions on January 3, 2025, and he was very kind, gentle and patient. I was a bit nervous but he and his dental assistant made me feel comfortable and assured that they had my interest at heart first. I was in no pain nor discomfort .No more than the usual pressure that comes with tooth extractions, etc.....Thank you for taking care of my dental needs.I highly recommend this office. Just be patient but they do great work.God Bless,Sheila Hilliard

I would like to commend the front office staff. They are intelligent and caring. I had an issue with out of network insurance that they caught BEFORE I had service. With Dominique's help, we were able to resolve the issue. Keep up the great work!

This dentist place is not good. They make you wait for hours and hours. The doctor is not responsible he just sits while there is people waiting. They did a job on my teeth and instead of fixing it they messed my teeth by breaking the tooth in half. At the end of waiting for hours they never called me or anything.

If I could rate it lower I would. The absolute worst!!! Unprofessional and rude. Will have you waiting for hours while you are the only one in the waiting room. And don’t ask how much longer. Just got looked at funny and rolled her eyes. Then get told after going back that I have come back at another day to complete what they scheduled me for. Stay away from this place.

Myself and 3 children had a great experience from start to finish. I’ve never had a dental office allow me to schedule 3 appointments at the same time for each individual child. When we first arrived, both ladies greeted us with smiles and promptly checked us in. Our wait time was approximately 8 minutes before my children were walked to the back by a dental assistant who greeted each of my children by name. After each child came from the back they were walked out with a dental assistant who came to me and told me everything went well, and that another for them will be made. I greatly appreciated the entire staff there. Great great staff, and great great service. This will be our family dentist office. Thank you everyone for taking great care of my kids!
